(We were already a couple when this episode took place, and after knowing my father-in-law for nearly a quarter-century, this is still the thing I admire most about the man): Powerful. Worth watching... I was in Israel during the first Gulf war. Many of my friends were being called home by their parents, and I was scared. I called my parents, asking to go home. My father, who lived in Israel as a boy, got on the phone, and said to me, When Israel is in trouble, you dont run away. You stay, and you do what you can to help. To this day, I am grateful to my father for those words. He was right. I stayed, and I did what I could to help (I was at Midreshet Moriah, which until recently was based at Shaarei Zedek medical center in Jerusalem, so we were put to work.) My fathers conviction gave me strength. It was an important lesson in putting the greater good before my own needs.
