Chantal has been downgraded to a tropical wave. The remnants of Chantal are approximately 866 miles from Ft. Pierce and are expected to spread over Jamaica and eastern Cuba tonight and Thursday. The remnants should spread into the northwestern Bahamas and over or near the Florida peninsula by Friday. All tropical storm watches and warnings have been discontinued. The NHC will no longer issue advisories or tracks on the remnants of Chantal. We can expect heavy rains into South Florida Friday and Saturday. Rainfall totals will be in the range of 2-4" with locally higher amounts possible. We should use this reminder to review our disaster plans and inventory/replenish our disaster kits.
