Chapter 15 Snowy Mountain Ragz lead the heroes on their journey. Slither looked around to find Jasmine studying her book. “Jasmine do you know what the creature’s proper names are?” asked Slither in a high pitched voice, Jasmine shook her head, “Then I will tell you, these creatures are called Pandora’s Protection Forces but you can call them Protection Forces for short. The Protection Forces are captured by using the spell book. There are more out there but we don’t know where to find them, maybe your creatures could help, but after this mission.” “So what do I do if I come across one?” Jasmine asked. “I heard that you must weaken it by choosing the right element for the job.” “Elements, what do you mean?” Jasmine asked with a confused face. “Your spells are elements. I’ll explain with the elements fire and ice. There are other elements but these will be easier to explain. Right… If the creature is a fire element then you will need to use an ice creature or spell to freeze it. It could turn around, if the fire heats up it will become too hot and will start to melt the ice. Do you understand?” “Cold elements quickly cool down hot elements, while hot elements quickly heat up cold elements.” “Correct, you listen well trainee.” Jasmine had a massive smile that spread across her face. Ragz stopped and then pointed up towards a small mountain far in the distance, “Everyone the forest is just behind that mountain.” Everyone cheered and set off following the rocky path towards the mountain. On the mountain peak was a goblin, but this one had dark black skin with silver chest armour. On his back was a small bow with arrows inside a red leather bag. His eyes were bright gold and the goblin also had spiky black hair. The goblin spied on the heroes by looking through the telescope that was in his hand. The evil goblin see’s the magic book in the summoner’s hand. He hurried through the hole within the mountain. The walls were crystal white with shiny diamonds inside. The goblin hurried down a narrow aisle, towards the lair. Inside the lair were lots of evil goblins with pick axes, digging to the bottom of the mountain searching for something. “Master I’ve got news,” the goblin spoke, while rubbing his hands. The master was a brown Ogre that stood over ten feet tall and is almost half as wide at the gut. His massively body is crowned by a snarling, bestial head, with a very little neck for support. His powerful arms are as thick as a mans chest and are capable of smashing through the walls of a house. “I told you to stay at the top to keep a look out for some intruders.” the Ogre roared. “Well that’s why I’ve come, we have five from Pandora Castle heading towards the mountain, one of them is holding a book that the Demon explained about.” “Are you sure?” “Master, it had a shiny ruby in the middle but I’m sure it is.” The Ogre gripped his hand to expand his muscles. “Alright Bogz, I’ll put you in charge for now, take half of the goblins with you to stop these fools. Do not let them enter the mountain, if they find what we’re looking for then the Dark Demon will be annoyed with us. Now go and bring the book to me!” the Ogre commanded. Bogz took his army back to the mountain peak to see where the five heroes had gotten to. Bogz looked down from the mountain and saw them nearby. “Stop where you are and don’t move a muscle!” shouted Bogz. The heroes froze on the spot and looked up to find lots of evil goblins in a row, staring down at them. Bogz squinted his eyes, focusing them on to Ragz. “My little brother Ragz, how are you doing, didn’t know it was you coming up the hill.” “Bogz what are you doing here?” “That’s for me to know and you to find out,” Bogz replied. “What I mean is, you died very young. Why are you still alive?” “I never died! The Dark Demon took me in because I had the power to build anything. I helped him build an Excalibur that can’t be destroyed by anything. The Excalibur is made from sound that protects the Dark Demon by sending out sound waves.” “How could you be with him, when he killed our mother and father, you are being used just so you can give him power. You must come back before it’s too late.” “I’ll never come back; I love it here because I get to build what I want. Also I control an army now. If you don’t want to die, then hand me over the magic book.” “We don’t have a magic book.” “Don’t play dumb with me bro, I saw it with my own eyes. The one in the red robe had the book. Now hand it to me or die!” Jasmine stepped forward and Ragz turned sharply round staring deep into her eyes. “What are you doing Jasmine?” Ragz asked, while looking at her strange. “I have a plan. I’ve got your book here Bogz!” shouted Jasmine. “Well…throw it up here. Now!” ordered Bogz. “You didn’t say please,” Jasmine said sweetly. “Bogz never says that word, now hand me the book or else.” “No not until you say please.” “Archers load your bows!” The evil goblins each pulled out a bow from their bag and slot it in the middle of their bow, while pulling the string back ready to launch. Jasmine threw the book up towards Bogz but before he could grab it, Jasmine summoned Falcon out. Falcon quickly grabbed the magic book with his long sharp claws being careful not to squeeze too hard. He then fired a fireball out from his mouth that hit the mountain peak, where the evil goblins stood. The frosty snow on top gave way taking the evil goblins and Bogz off their feet. The avalanche was heading straight at the five heroes. Ragz began to panic running around in circles, while flapping his arms about. Jasmine looked back. “If we don’t stop the avalanche, then it would reach Pandora and would freeze everyone to death.” Grizzly sharply turned. “Then what are you going to do young summoner.” Jasmine thought for a minute. “It’s alright Jasmine I’ll handle this,” Slither said bravely. Slither made a sign then placed her hand on the ground. The ground began to crack splitting the middle into two equal pieces. The avalanche dropped into the pit taking Bogz and his army with it. Sandy explained the situation. “Have you noticed what you have done, you’ve made an entrance at the bottom of the mountain. We must hurry through to find out if there are any more evil goblins and to find out what they are looking for.” They all nodded their heads. Falcon chucked the magic book towards Jasmine. Jasmine caught the book and tightly held on clutching it against her chest. Jasmine then sent Falcon back through the colourful portal and made their way towards the entrance. I wonder what the evil goblins are looking for. Will the Pandora Team find out and stop them in time? When the heroes entered the mountain, everything was frozen all around them and inside the freezing ice were clear white diamonds sparkling through. They took their time finding the way to the top of the mountain. Jasmine rushed forward towards Ragz to ask him some questions, “Ragz, I thought you were the only one left within your family.” “I was the only one but some reason Bogz is still alive and he’s helping the Dark Demon, but I think he’s being controlled just to make the Demon stronger.” Sandy over heard the conversation and stepped in, “The Dark Demon is strong now. The Demon has the power of sound that no one could get. So why hasn’t he killed your brother already. It’s because Bogz had turned evil. Ragz, you can’t bring him back because that’s where he wants to be.” Ragz’s brain triggered an idea into his head, “What if he’s forced into this, maybe he was scared of dying, so he surrendered by saying that he could make the Demon stronger.” Soon there was a noise coming from a distance. Ragz and Jasmine searched the area looking for somewhere to hide. Then Jasmine spotted a giant hole, “Quickly over here,” Jasmine whispered. Everyone rushed over towards the giant hole, to hide around the corner. The volume began to get closer. “Master, we’ve found some stairs leading deep under the mountain, maybe the creature is down there.” “You fool, don’t say it out loud! What if Bogz hasn’t stopped the intruders, don’t want the one with the magic book to know. Send some goblins down there to check it out. I’m going to find Bogz to find out what’s keeping him.” The Ogre and the goblin went their own ways. Jasmine waited until they were out of sight and came out behind the wall. The ruby in between the magic book glowed very bright. Jasmine looked puzzled, she never seen this happen before. “Slither, what does this mean? The ruby’s glowing” “Ah, it glows like that to tell you there’s a creature nearby, like the dark goblin told us about.” Jasmine was excited because this would be her first creature that she would have captured, “Let’s follow the goblin to find out.” They all followed the path where the goblin went and came to some icy stairs that were see-through. Slither gave the orders to the team before they went down the stairs. “Sandy, can you stay here and give a signal to tell us that the Ogre is returning. Grizzly you can back up Sandy because you might bump into trouble. Just remember to give a signal. Ragz and Jasmine come with me.” Jasmine, Slither and Ragz tiptoed down the freezing cold stairs, not making any sound at all. At the bottom was an icy banister that had spiral poles to support it in place. The three of them crouched down by the banister peering through the gaps in between. They could see ten, thirty no fifty goblins walking up towards a massive crystal. The sky blue crystal was very misty, it was hard to see if there’s a creature living inside. A little tiny goblin stood in front of the crystal, “We must protect this creature until Bogz returns with the book. Do you understand?” “We understand,” The other goblins cried out Jasmine took a deep breath, “How are we going to get down there, we must come up with something.” They all thought for a moment, then Slither came up with an idea, “What if we could turn this room smoky so that they can’t see us.” Jasmine scratched her head, “How are we going to do that, I have no creature that could help.” Before Slither could answer, the sky blue crystal began to glow. Then it made the air become colder, all of a sudden, thick mist filled the room. The goblins began to panic not knowing what could happen next. Slither’s snakes hissed, sending a message to her mind. “Yes you can my babies, go and destroy.” Slither watched as her babies slithered across the floor towards the goblins, wrapping around the goblins’ necks, squeezing tightly blocking the windpipe until they dropped dead. The snakes slithered back to their mother, curling around tightly into a ball on Slither’s head. “Well done my little darlings, you can rest now.” The thick fog slowly disappeared. Jasmine and Ragz’s vision came back. They hurried down the narrow stair case and trampled through the middle of the goblins, making their way towards the crystal. All fifty goblins were frozen on the floor, not even moving a muscle. Their golden eyes were wide open staring into Jasmine’s soul. This made Jasmine have shivers traveling down her spine, thinking one of them are going to scare the living days out of her. When they approached the creature, Jasmine opened her magic book, “Pandora’s Protection Force creature, please come with us to protect Pandora and defeat the Dark Demon?” The dull crystal wasn’t dull anymore, the creature inside heard Jasmines cry making the crystal brighten up. Then the crystal smashed into smithereens and before their eyes was a cold blooded woman. She had blue pale skin, short white hair that stuck up like icicles, her eyes were crystal blue and she had a long tail about six foot long that had icicles sticking out all the way down the tail. She wore a light blue silky dress that came to her hips and light blue silky underwear with a little snowflake on the right. “I have never seen a summoner in ages. You must be powerful to become one little girl, maybe you will need my power and because you mentioned the Dark Demon, I will accept to join you young summoner. My name’s Crystal.” “My names Jasmine,” she said politely. Crystal burst into thousands of little snowflakes that floated around the room with a cold breeze blowing behind them. Then the snowflakes darted into the magic book, sealing Crystal away until she is summoned again. Jasmine had a huge smile across her face, “I’ve gained my first creature Slither,” Slither shook her head looking disgraceful at Jasmine, “Jasmine, pull yourself together! Yes that was easy, but there are some out there that wouldn’t just come to you like that. You would have to show your strength by using the creatures to battle them until they surrender. You think this is some kind of game, but it’s not. There will be a war soon and if you haven’t captured all the creatures, then there is no hope for us all.” Before Jasmine could speak, she heard a scrapping noise from above, “What’s that noise?” Ragz listened to the noise again, “It sounds like hooves being scraped across the floor… of course the signal, its Sandy telling us the Ogre’s returning. Quickly let’s get out of here!” Sandy began to panic because the ogre was getting closer every minute, “Where are they, why haven’t they arrived yet?” “I don’t know maybe they are in trouble. Just get ready to attack,” Grizzly roared. The creepy shadow slid across the wall getting bigger and bigger. Then the Ogre turned the corner, seeing Grizzly and Sandy standing by the stair case. The Ogre gave out a mighty yell. Lots of saliva came gushing out of the Ogre’s mouth. The Ogre charged at Grizzly and Sandy. Sandy grabbed her long bow then placed an arrow inside, while pulling the string tightly back. She aimed for the Ogre’s head and lets the string go. The arrow forced its way through the cold breeze burying into the Ogre’s head. Sandy thought one arrow would have killed him, but the Ogre just carried on charging for them, while ripping out the bow from his fore head. Sandy reached for another bow but it was too late the Ogre was close. Grizzly stood in front of Sandy as a shield, “I’ll protect you, just be ready for back up!” Grizzly pulled out his battle axes and gripped onto them tightly. Grizzly waited for the right moment, then swung the axes around his head. Then brought them back down hitting the Ogre in the chest. The Ogre’s chest was like solid steel, not one cut went through. Grizzly was shocked and lost his concentration, so the Ogre grabbed the bear with his strong bulgy hands. Grizzly scratched with his claws but couldn’t reach the Ogre’s face. The bear’s face began to tighten up, sweat began to pore through Grizzlys skin making his fur wringing wet and his eyes began to water. Sandy knew she had to do something. She couldn’t fire an arrow because it might hit Grizzly. Sandy scraped her right hoof on the ice then galloped at the Ogre. When she was near, Sandy turned her body around and kicked with her back legs, hitting the Ogre in the chest. The Ogre went flying, so he loosened his grip around Grizzlys neck to save himself, but he skidded along the slippery ice. The Ogre placed his long sharp nails into the ice to slow himself down. Soon Jasmine and the others arrived. “Sorry about the wait, there were fifty evil goblins protecting the crystal below, also I’ve gained my first creature.” Jasmine said, while jumping up and down. Sandy and Grizzly saw the Ogre, he was furious and came rushing in again. Grizzly was lying on the ground because his neck was hurting, “Jasmine use your new creature it’s our only hope,” Grizzly said in a croaky voice. Jasmine pointed her wand in the air, “I summon you Crystal!” Thousands of snowflakes flew out of the book and then were floating to the ground. The snowflakes joined together making a large crystal. The Ogre started to laugh. “You’re going to attack me with that long crystal there. If that’s the creature, then it’s pointless and weak.” The crystal began to glow, “Who are you calling weak; I am Crystal the ice queen.” The crystal exploded that sent freezing cold air around the room. Jasmine’s hairs on her arms began to stand up, giving her goose bumps. “Jasmine’s teeth began to chatter, Go… Crystal!” The Ogre was amazed of what had come out. The lady was so beautiful that he didn’t know where to look, “Oh you’re the creature.” While the team were talking, the Ogre sneakily grabbed an icicle that was propped up through the floor behind him. He gripped the icicle tightly in his right hand and then used his strong muscles to launch it at Crystal. The icicle flew through the air like a dart, but as soon as it reached Crystal the icicle shattered into little pieces. “Did you think you could kill me with my own weapon? asked Crystal, what a fool!” Crystal held out her hand, lots of ice was building up turning into a medium spiky ball that was glowing. Crystal rolled the spiky ball across the icy floor towards the Ogre, the Ogre slowly took a step back. The ball exploded that sent out millions of needles. Crystal quickly sprayed ice out of her delicate hands, making an icy wall that was see-through. The Ogre gave out a mighty roar as the needles pierced all over his body. He knelt down and looked down at his hands to find that the ice had made a deep cut. There was blood seeping through the damaged areas, the Ogre whipped his hands on to the icy floor smothering it in blood and then stared at Crystal. She could see that the Ogre was furious by the way he looked at her. His eyebrows dropped that made his eyes look evil. The Ogre placed his hands in front of him about shoulder width apart then lifted his buttocks into the air, like an Olympic runner ready to win a race. The Ogre pushed with his bulgy legs and swung his arms vigorously that made him speed up. Crystal just smiled, “When will the Ogre learn not to rush in to battle? Cover your ears it’s going to be ear piercing.” Everyone looked at each other really strange but still followed Crystal’s orders. Crystal took a deep breath then screamed. The scream was a high pitch that echoed through the mountain. The icy wall began to crack then it shattered into tiny sparkling crystals. Crystal breathed the shiny crystals into her mouth. Her white hair began to steam sending out a thick cloud of fog. The Ogre stopped where he was, listening out for any movement. Crystal vanished into the icy floor then popped up nearby the Ogre. Crystal grabbed the Ogre around the head then brought her right leg into his back. The Ogre felt his spine cracking within side. He knocked Crystal off her feet with a right hook in the face. Crystal landed on her backside. The Ogre lifted his left foot to bring it back down on to the ice queen’s leg but Crystal wrapped her tail around the Ogre’s right leg and pulled him over. When he landed on the ground, Crystal leaped on to the Ogre pounding his face with her bare hands. She then tore his leg apart by pulling her tail away. The spikes around her tail had jammed into his leg, so when she pulled her tail it shredded the Ogre’s leg apart. A pool of blood was surrounding the Ogre, while Crystal stared into the Ogres evil eyes, “Youre too weak, now die.” Crystal raised her tail up but before she could finish the job, a sly voice came from behind. “Don’t move a muscle or else your friends will get it?” It was Bogz. He was holding his lucky bow with five arrows inside. The bow was ready to be launched at Jasmine, Ragz, Slither, Sandy and Grizzly. “Hand over the magic book, no more tricks this time or your friends will have an arrow through their head.” Crystal saw the pool of blood, so she sent some of her power inside the Ogre’s blood, then moved it behind Bogz. No one noticed what Crystal was up to, Jasmine placed the book slowly on the floor and pushed it towards Bogz. Jasmine spotted the moving blood dashing across the floor. When the book stopped sliding, the blood hid underneath. Bogz bent down to pick it up, but when he did the book smacked him in the face, breaking the bone in his nose. The blood turned into another Crystal but everything of her was blood. The clone Crystal threw the book back to Jasmine. Then the clone took the bow and arrows off Bogz and with her bare hands, she snapped them in half. Bogz looked confused seeing two similar creatures, “Why do you have two creatures? I thought there was only one creature down stairs.” The clone grabbed Bogz’s arm and snapped it in two places causing the bone to shatter. Bogz ran for his life before the clone could do anymore damage. The clone vanished, leaving a pool of blood on the floor. “Now, where were we?” Crystal announced. Crystal raised her tail once again, then brought it back down, cracking the Ogre’s skull in half. Jasmine called Crystal back to the magic book. Crystal turned into thousands of snowflakes and flew inside.” Ragz lead the gang through the mountain and came to a very long icy bridge. They rushed over towards the bridge and crossed over in a straight line. When they were half way a huge boulder fell from above nearly hitting Slither by an inch, who was behind everyone else. The heroes rushed for their lives but more boulders fell from a great height, smashing the two ends of the bridge. The bridge began to sway side to side balancing on one leg that was in the middle. Ragz came up with an idea. “Everyone keep still take it one by one to cross over, so that it will balance.” Everyone agreed. Grizzly was the heaviest so he went first taking his time to cross over. Next was Sandy, she took her time concentrating along the way, but she had to have a quick glance, there was a massive drop and if you fell off the edge, you’ll never be seen again. Sandy screamed because the bridge began to sway. Sandy accidently misplaced her footing that made a hole in the bridge. “My foot is trapped, I can’t move!” Sandy screamed. Jasmine took her time making her way over towards the Sagittarius. When she got close, Jasmine could see what had happened. Some areas within the ice are weak, so the Sagittarius leg had gone through the weak part and was trapped by a huge ice block, which collided into Sandy’s leg. Jasmine helped the Sagittarius by forcing the block out of the way, but it was tough to move. Every time Jasmine managed to move the block, her muscles became weak and the block began to slide back damaging the Sagittarius leg. Then Jasmine had a great idea, she remembered when she was at home, Jasmine and Arthur went out to play near a river with stepping stones. They used to play games like hide and seek, but there favourite game was Crocodile Lake. They had to stay on the stepping stones and if they fell into the water they became crocodile meat. When they were playing Crocodile Lake, Arthur slipped over and his foot got jammed in between two heavy rocks. Jasmine tried everything to help by pulling on his leg or forcing the rocks apart, but it didn’t work. Then she saw a plank of wood. She went over towards the wood and dragged it back to Arthur. Jasmine slotted the plank of wood in between the rock and Arthur’s leg. She used all her strength to lift the rock, so that Arthur could slip his foot out. She managed to do it and she helped Arthur back home by giving him a piggy back. Jasmine looked around for something like the piece of wood but there was nothing like that around, “What could I do?” Then Jasmine looked down at her wand that was glistening in her hand. She pointed her wand at the block of ice. When the wand touched the block, yellow sparks sparked out cracking the block into thousands of little pieces. Sandy gradually took her foot out of the hole but it was badly damaged, she couldnt place her foot on the floor because when Sandy did, she felt a sharp pain that shot up her leg that made her shout out loud. Sandy limped across the bridge treading carefully along the way. Soon Grizzly, Sandy, Jasmine and Ragz were over. Jasmine helped Sandy by cracking the bone back into place. Sandy gripped her teeth together. Soon the pain gradually disappeared. All that was left on the bridge was Slither. Slither started to walk. She could feel the bridge swaying side to side. Slither moved her foot but tripped up over her long cloak. It felt like her heart was going to come out of her mouth. She held out her hands to catch her fall, but she landed with a thud and skidded across grazing her hands across the ice. The snakes woke up and dug their fangs into the ice. “Thank you my children you saved my life.” When the words came out of her mouth, the last leg that was supporting the bridge gave way, taking Slither down with it into the pitch black hole. Jasmine pointed her wand up, “I summon you Falcon!” but there was no sign of him, “I summon you Falcon!” Still nowhere to be seen, they all just watched as Slither disappeared into darkness. All they could hear was Slither’s scream echoing around the mountain. The whole mountain began to rumble and shake. Ragz grabbed hold of Jasmine’s hand, pulling her towards the exit, while Grizzly and Sandy followed behind. Jasmine has gained another creature that defeated the Ogre. When the bridge collapsed it took Slither deep into the pit, but some reason Jasmine’s creature Falcon didn’t come to the rescue. I wonder why?
