Chapter 23 Mrs Ndaba woke up and went to the bathroom just to freshen up and then she went to the living to watch TV. She was expecting Anda to wake up any moment to prepare breakfast for the family as usual. She sat there waiting, after 30 minutes she went to check on her because she knew Anda never sleeps that long. She went to her bathroom and knocked on the door, she knew Anda always locked herself in so she didnt even bother trying to open the door before knocking. Mrs Ndaba: (knocking) Hey you!!! Wake up, you know you have to prepare breakfast There was no response. For the first time she called her name. Mrs Ndaba: (shouting) Anda!!! Anda open this door now!! Eventually Mrs Ndaba pushed down the door handle and the door opened, to her surprise the bathroom was empty. It was in the same condition it was in before Anda moved in it. She got really confused and thought she probably moved into one of the spare bedrooms and she thought how dare she... She went to all 3 spare bedrooms but Anda was no where to be found. This really puzzled her. She decided to go ask Onela because she knew they were close so he would probably know her whereabouts so she went to his bedroom and knocked on his door. Mr Ndaba: (shouting) Onela baby its mommy, open the door please Onela was asleep so he didnt hear her at first. She knocked again. Mrs Ndaba: Onela!! Onela! He eventually woke up with the bracelet still in his hand, he put it under his pillow then went to open the door for his mother. Mrs Ndaba: morning baby She kissed him on the forehead. Onela: morning mom Mrs Ndaba: do you by any chance know where Anda is? Onela: ohw so you do know her name? Mrs Ndaba: ONELA!!! Onela: she left Mrs Ndaba: left?? Left as in shes coming back later on......or?? Onela: she left as in LEFT left.... I thought you would be happy Mrs Ndaba: whats that supposed to mean Onela? Onela: dont act like you dont know you were abusing her He turned around and walked back to his bed and he sat on it. Mr Ndaba came and stood next to Mrs Ndaba. Mr Ndaba: whats this Im hearing about Anda leaving???? When did she leave? Onela: this morning...... Now you two can go and throw a party because shes out of your lives now forever Mr Ndaba stormed in Onelas room angry. Mr Ndaba: LISTEN HERE!!! I will not tolerate being disrespected by you DO YOU HEAR ME????? (Pointing at him) Mrs Ndaba holding him back. Mrs Ndaba: STOP IT Xolisa!!! Hes just a child!!!! Onela didnt say anything after that, he just got under his duvet and pulled it over him and covered himself from head to toe. Mr and Mrs Ndaba walked out of his bedroom. Mr Ndaba: NX!!!!! This boy!! I swear one of these days Im gona........ Mrs Ndaba: (before he could finish) WHAT XOLISA!!!!! You gona do what??? JUST DARE TOUCH MY BOY and you gona regret the day you were born!!!!! Then Mrs Ndaba walked away and left him standing there. Anda had taken a taxi to town in the morning and she wasnt really sure where she was going. She jumped off at the taxi rank and looked around wondering which direction she was going to take next. She stood there for a while wondering until she decided to just walk and see where that will take her. She walked for quite some time until she got really tired then she spotted a bench nearby, she went there and sat down. She kept the money Onela gave her in her bra. Some random guy walked by and grabbed her bag and ran away with it. Anda screamed and tried to chase him but she realised it wasnt worth it because he was too fast for her so she decided to go back to the bench. She checked her other bag and realised the one that got stolen had her mothers picture in it. She felt like someone had punched her on her stomach. She was really heartbroken that she started crying. As she was closing her other bag she saw Onelas picture and she took it out and remembered their conversation in the morning, even though her heart was broken, she managed to smile as she was looking at his picture. She decided to fold it and put it in her pocket just in case someone stole that bag. She sat there thinking where to from here.
