Character Sidestory for Fayth Oakheart of the ORGY. As always, enjoy and please forgive any inconsistencies and grammatical errors. Casting: Dungeon Master - Dennis Lai Druid - Fayth Oakheart (Half-Elf Female) Ranger - Jabbo Wayne Argurlstant (Elf Male) Setting: D&D 5th Ed Faerun 1388 DR, eve of Spell Plague ---------------- From the Journal of Fayth Oakheart, Suave I am not 4th Sept 2014 (Fayth Side-Story) Part 1: The Flawed Claw I came out of my Trance slowly, the meditation allowing me to recall my memories of training with Rayne. Shapeshifting, that was the aspect of my Druidic abilities I had yet to grasp. I glanced down at the claws that hung on a leather strap on my neck, the symbol of Malar that I’d inherited from Rayne. If I could have shifted into a panther or some other beast, surely I’d have held my own in the battle yesterday. I grasped the amulet in my hand and focused on an image of the great cat, my nails sharpened into claws and fur rippled over my right arm, then… it stopped. I glared at my arm in frustration, why couldn’t I do it? I let out my breath with a sigh and watched as the transformation reversed itself. Maybe I need some fresh air, maybe it’s all these walls around me that’s distracting me, I’d never been away from the forest for so long before. I’d had thought to slip out of the tavern quietly while the rest were still sleeping, but then I bumped into Wayne in the tap room. Shoot! He’s an Elf too so he’d be as well rested as I was. “You’re up early,” he observed. “Did you expect me to sleep more since I’m not a full Elf?” I shot back. He paused and decided to ignore the barb, “Going somewhere?” “Out” I replied shortly. For some reason, seeing him there put me in a bad mood. He sighed, “Look, I know we didn’t get off to a good start, how about you let me make it up to you?” I raised an eyebrow waiting for him to elaborate. “You said you wanted to know more about Elves, as it happens there’s a settlement of wood elves to the South. If you like, I could take you there to see how we live first hand.” I bit my lip, caution warring against my curiosity, but really, there was only one thing I could say if I wanted to learn more of my heritage. “Lead the way then.” “There are two things I should warn you about though, Elves are not always accepting of half elves. It disturbs us to see a human that has elvish features. That, and the Elves in the Green Oak Settlement worship Correllan,” he stared pointedly at my talisman, “You may not be in for a warm reception” I shrugged as we walked out the tavern, “I’m a half elf living among humans, a ‘rustic peasant’ surrounded by noble aristocrats, being discriminated against is nothing new to me.”
