Character profile: William Billy Kaplan aka Wiccan Creators: Allan Heinberg, Jim Cheung (Steve Englehart & Richard Howell, originally) First Appearance: Young Avengers #1 (Vision & Scarlet Witch Vol. 2, issue12, originally) Powers/Abilities: As both a mutant and a mage, Wiccan possesses a variety of superpowers. Though he originally appeared as an electrokinetic mutant with flight capability, his main ability is channeling and manipulating Chaos Magic, inherited from his mother, the Scarlet Witch. He has so far demonstrated the following abilities: Reality Warping, Conjuring, Levitation/Telekinesis, Glamouring, Pyrokinesis, Photokinesis, Healing, and Clairvoyance. His potential is practically limitless, with the only thing truly holding him back is he himself. Dr. Strange has approached him, stating that he wields all the potential to assume the mantle of the Sorcerer Supreme Biography: Regularly bullied in school for being gay, a chance encounter with Wanda Maximoff (neither aware of their relationship to one another) in front of the Avengers Mansion encouraged Billy to stand up for himself. In doing so, his mutant powers activated, causing him to electrocute and nearly kill his tormentor at school. It was discovered that his name was listed as part of a contingency plan should anything ever happen to the Avengers, with the list containing names of those who are believed to have a connection with them. This caused the formation of Young Avengers, with him originally operating under the guise of Asgardian. Patterning himself after Thor and Scarlet Witch, he also limits his powers to flight and generating lightning. He later discovered that he and fellow teammate, Thomas Shepherd aka Speed, are indeed the reincarnated lost twins of Scarlet Witch and Vision. His brother is patterned after their uncle, Quicksilver. Show some love to a true fanboy AND fellow gay geek!
