Charge Laid Relating to Fatal Collision Involving Motorcycle 14-28109 Kingston Police have concluded their investigation and laid a charge relating to the collision between a motorcycle and a pick-up truck on Highway 2 near Retreat Lane that occurred on Sunday, September 14th, 2014. The male motorcyclist was travelling westbound on Highway 2 shortly before 1:00 p.m. when a GMC Sonoma pick-up truck with two occupants reversed out of a private drive. The motorcycle, unable to avoid, collided with the right rear of the truck and the rider was thrown, receiving life-threatening injuries. Kingston Police, Kingston Fire & Rescue, and paramedics attended and Highway 2 was closed for a number of hours while the investigation continued. The motorcyclist, 68-year-old John ROSEBOOM of Gananoque, was transported to a local hospital but later died on Wednesday, September 17th as a result of his injuries. The male driver of the pick-up truck, a 31-year-old Kingston resident, was charged by Kingston Police on September 23rd under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to yield from a private road.
