Science literacy is SO important in this age of magnificent technology. As is obtaining accurate information about BOTH sides of an argument in order to form your own opinion rather than having it pounded into you by talking heads on the nightly news who can barely pronounce the words, much less grasp the concepts. Without the ability to discern the accuracy of the subjects mentioned, anyone - Dem or Rep, atheist or religious or spiritual - will be able to sway you.
