Charles Sumner was once the most hated man in the senate, and was viciously beaten at his desk during session. His bludgeoning with a cane was tolerated due to his unpopularity at the time. But soon, the tide would turn against slavery and he would become a hero, with the support of the American people behind him. Things may seem bleak or disadvantaged now for Tea Partiers, libertarians, conservatives, and free thinking independents. But as events unfold, things can shift quickly. As someone once said, Elections have consequences.
