Civil Aviation Minister Steven Davis says more airline services are needed in PNG to encourage more competition which will lead to lower airfares. Davis says at this stage he is not in any position to make comments on the new player. He says an announcement will be made once the government is ready. He says he was encouraged to see local interest among the applications. Davis says Enga Provincial Government is among the applicants and he is pleased to see such initiative. “CASA will screen the applications and carry out safety assessment of the applicants,” he says. Davis says the cost of travelling with Air Niugini is high and it is his aim to develop the industry to a level where people can afford to fly. - See more at:
