Charlie M. “PeeWee” Ferguson, age 77, of Collinsville, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Henry County on October 8, 1936, a son of the late Allie Wyatt and George Arthur Ferguson. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Patsy H. Ferguson; sisters, Evelyn, Jean and Liz; brothers, James, Bill, George and Donnie, and step-son Scott Turner. He retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 35 years of service, was an active member of Villa Heights Baptist Church serving in several capacities, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Fishing was his passion and when not fishing he loved talking about fishing. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy F. Turner of the home, sons, Randy Ferguson and wife, Amy, Steve Ferguson and wife, Angie; sister, Becky Bullins; brother, Ronnie Ferguson; grandchildren, Haley Ferguson, Breanna Ferguson, Samuel Ferguson; step-grandchildren, Sydney Turner and Ryan Turner; step-daughters, Karen Turner and Kathy Turner; sisters-in-law, Teresa Hedgepeth, Judy Hamrick, Betty Lavinder and Sandra Stultz, and brother-in-law, Elmo “Punkin” Herndon. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett, with the Rev. Keith Spangenberg and the Rev. Dr. Joey McNeil officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with full military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard of Martinsville and Henry County. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Villa Heights Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
