Charlotte update- in the past 2 years, some of Charlottes seizure - TopicsExpress

Charlotte update- in the past 2 years, some of Charlottes seizure triggers have changed. Many of the triggers she had before dont seem to bother her as much (high contrast patterns, flashing lights, ect) while new triggers have seemed to pop up. After a month and a half of worsening drop seizures, I called Charlottes neuro for advice. One of the medications C takes, specifically for atonic myoclonic drop seizures has the side effect of curbing her appetite. Because of this, C eats less than she normally would and she isnt aware that she is hungry or needs to eat even when her blood sugar is dropping. When C gets hungry (I am assuming low blood sugar) her drops get worse. We decided on a new game plan to ween this particular medication and try Onfi again. Onfi is also suppose to help with drop seizures but doesnt have the appetite suppressing side effects Zonisamide has. I hope this is our ticket to fewer facial and head injuries. Good thoughts and prayers please, drug weens are hard and often provoke more seizures before helping.
