He lifted the lid up,Looking down at the ring that sat inside. He contemplated how he was going to propose knowing Telesia wasnt into the over the top romantic proposals. Noone knew not even his boys or his bestfriend Francine. He was just gona do it. Maybe even after they made love or during...Logan closed the lid feeling nervous just staring at it. He decided by the end of this afternoon he would know when the perfect time would be to pop the question. He placed it back in his hiding spot and left to meet up with the boys.......... August-you made it. Logan-I said I was coming didnt I? August-yeah but you usually fall asleep. Logan-lol August-youre on Kalebs team. Yous kick off. Handing over the football. The boys parted to their teams. Kaleb shook Logans hand. Kaleb-didnt think you were gona make it. You algoods? Youve been acting weird lately. Logan couldnt keep it to himself anymore. Logan-Im gonna propose. Kaleb had a indescribable expression on his face. He stayed quiet for a moment before he patted Logan on the shoulder. Kaleb-Congrats. Logan-thanks. Im hella nervous. Kaleb-you shouldnt be. Shell say yes. Come on lets play. Kaleb jogged ahead to his position as 5.8. He was offered to play 1st grade by the Canterbury bulldogs but on the eve of signing with them. He was struck with the news of his mother passing away so sudden in Samoa while visiting his grandparents. It was reported her heart just gave out on her. After that,Kaleb walked away from the sport. His mother was his no 1 supporter and raising him all on her own. Kaleb felt the guilt of not going to Sa with her instead choosing to stay for training. Logan always tried to outdo him but Kalebs skills as a footy player was on a whole different level. Logan knew kaleb still loved the game. It was in his vains. 20 minutes into the game. The boys were sweating,out of breath but filled with determination. As always,the boys got serious like they were playing in the grandfinal. Kaleb made a beautiful flick with his wrist,spinning the ball behind his back. Logan caught it in a full sprint,palming off two players in what looked to be a beautiful try. Logan saw August in the corner of his eye give chase from the other end if the field. August was a sprinter. Logan knew if August got meters close to him he was gona get tackled knowing he could never outrun August. Logan pushed his body seeing the tryline ahead of him. Knowing he was about to score,he got cocky. Aiming for the middle of the goal post,he looked over his shoulder to taunt August who was gaining ground on him before he dove for a try. He miscalculated the dive,Slamming headfirst into the post and losing conciousness................ Everday,the boys and Francine would visit Logan in Hospital. Telesia never left his side once,refusing to leave incase he woke up. He suffered bleeding in his brain which needed surgery to drain it out. Only there was a slight complication. The surgeons had nicked a nerve that connected to his central memory area which they were able to fix but wouldnt know if there was any damage until he woke up. Francine could see how haggard her cousin looked. She doubted Sia really had much sleep. Francine-Sia go home and get a good nights rest. Telesia-Im ok Francine-Logan would be cut if he woke up and saw you like this. Ill stay with him. I promise ill call you if anything changes. Kaleb take her home and stay with her. Make sure she eats. Telesia was shaking her head but Kaleb gently pulled her up. She was too exhausted to argue and admitted she wanted to have a hot shower and a few hours rest. Telesia-Promise me youll call. Francine-promise. Telesia nodded and let Kaleb lead her out of the room. She didnt make it halfway down the corridor when her legs gave out on her. Kaleb bent his knees lifting her in his arms,pushing her head next to his chest. Sia was sound asleep by the time Kaleb got to the elevators. Francine pulled out a book from her bag knowing she would be in for a long night ahead. She glanced up at the time and saw it was nearly midnight. She became engrossed in her romance novel when she saw movement in the corner of her eye. She looked up at Logan where he remained in deep sleep thinking she must of imagined it when Logan made a sound. Jumping out of her seat to run to his side. She looked at him intently calling his name. Francine-Logan,can you hear me?logan. Logans eyelides started to flutter,he slowly opened his eyes making Francine squeal with joy. She pushed the button for the nurses. Francine-Logan,its me Francine.. Logan-Francine?...You stayed..I..I. Francine leaned in to hear what Logan was trying to say. Pulling out her phone to call Sia to tell her the good news. Sia was on her way. Francine-You what.? Im so glad youre ok. Logan-I...Love you... He fell back to sleep. Francine stood there stockstill feeling like the world had just turned on its axis.
