Chattergam killings barbaric, says DAK UN should cancel Indias membership Srinagar, Nov 4: Alleging that the security forces have been given a “license to kill”, Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK) Tuesday said the killing of two innocent civilians by Army at Chattergam is “barbaric and brutal”. “The security forces in [the] valley are protected by draconian laws and have no fear of accountability,” Dr Nisar ul Hassan, President DAK, said in a statement. Reacting on the reports that Army has initiated an inquiry into the shooting, which led to death of two civilians and injured two others when soldiers opened fire on a private car on Monday evening, Dr Hassan said “probes and inquiries are an eyewash and we have witnessed in the past in Gool, Ramban and Gagran, Shopian massacres how killers were shielded and inquiries were trashed”. Demanding that the culprits are arrested immediately, he said they should be “booked for murder for this ghastly crime”. The association also appealed the United Nations Human Rights Council to take cognizance of these civilian killings and intervene by cancelling membership of Indian state “for committing gross human rights violations in Kashmir”.
