Chattooga County 911 officials tell us that U.S. 27 near Taylors Ridge is open but drivers are urged to use caution. The thoroughfare, which is the main route from Summerville to Rome, was closed Sunday due to a fire. There was some debris on the roadway from equipment used by the Georgia Forestry Commission. The fire is out but forestry officials are still on the scene. We will have more on this breaking story as details become available.
