Check Your Equifax Report - Bill Me Later Phishing Scam Hi All. This is a response email I shot off to Equifax. It should tell you what I have been going through in the past few weeks. Dont let it happen to you. Dear Madame or Sir, Thank you for your response email regarding my initial issue regarding why Equifax allowed a known phishing/extortion company access to my credit report. I do apologize for not offering my direct phone number in the first email. It is: xxx-xxx-xxxx. I contacted a customer support representative and a supervisor over this issue. These two people deserve far more than what they are being paid due to your companys (Equifaxs) complete disregard for your customerss private information, credit safety, personal information security; and the use of unethical business practices. Suffice it to say, the following was determined after the phone calls: 1. Bill Me Later is a fraudulent company that accesses customerss credit history reports in order to extort money from them. 2. Bill Me Later has been investigated for years by state and federal investigators for its deceptive and illegal practices. (I am not a professional investigator, but a simple Google search confirmed this) 3. Equifax allowed Bill Me Later on 11/12/2013 to access my private information for the purpose of monetary gain on the part of Equifax at the expense and the security of my credit. The solution to this problem offered by the Equifax representatives? Place a fraud alert on my accounts and freeze my accounts. This is not an equitable soultion. I am being harmed/damaged through no fault of my own from two independent businesses. I am being harassed via phone calls and mailings, and billings; and threatened that this fraudulent company may attempt to damage my credit. I am now being harmed due to your greed and the lack security you provide to your customers. Businesses and creditors will now question whether I am worthy of further credit, and/or I will have to unlock my credit to use it. This is completely unacceptable. You - Equifax - should be held liable and responsible for the harrassment and undue stress that Bill Me Later is causing me. You knowingly allowed this company access to my report for monetary gain. As one of the big 3 credit reporting agencies, you have been empowered with the determining/reporting/deciding a persons credit value. You should be responsible enough to safeguard a persons information from known fradulent businesses. This being the case, I need to inform you of what I shall be persuing: 1. Filing a complaint with the New York State Attorney Generals Office naming Bill Me Later and Equifax 2. Filing a complaint with the Fedral Trade Commission naming Bill Me Later and Equifax 3 Filing a complaint with Maryland and Nebraska State Attorney General Offices naming Bill Me Later and Equifax - due to Bill Me Later having the call center/office located in Timonium, Maryland and their billing office located in Omaha, Nebraska. 4. Finally, I shall be utilizing my right to inform as many people as I can by contacting reporters, news agencies, and using internet social media applications of the phishing scam that was atttempted upon me by Bill Me Later and Equifaxs aiding in the fraud with no regard to its customers privacy or protection. Sincerely, Jeremy Read
