Check out the latest summer fire update from Emergency Management Commissioner Craig Lapsley. Conditions last week saw the Fire Danger Rating reach severe and extreme, and we had the potential for major fires. Crews did an amazing job and were effective in containing the majority of the incidents through initial attack. The Hasting fire impacted on multiple backyards and is a reminder of the risks associated with the urban-interface. If you live in a built-up area on the edge of grassland - whether its open grassland, parks, paddocks or reserves - you could be impacted by grassfire this summer. There is still a long summer ahead of us. It will get hot, dry and windy, so stay attuned.
