Check out this interview of energy consultant Roy Morrison. Within the interview, Roy Morrison suggests that achieving sustainability could be expediated by altering our taxation system to reflect the sustainability of various consumer goods. Although it would be difficult and expensive to initially set up, the benefits become quickly obvious. In essence: "...that which is sustainable must become less expensive, more profitable, and gain market share. What is polluting, depleting and ecologically damaging must become more expensive, less profitable and lose market share. The price system needs to send clear signals for sustainability to consumers, producers, bankers, investors, and government officials.
