Check this out. We teach a bit about Gustav Freytags theories on narrative (the narrative arc and Freytags pyramid) in our Open Seminars. It turns out that science proves what Freytag believed. Oh, and anytime we can get Freytag, narrative arc, cortisol and DARPA in one clip, its a good thing. Stories are powerful because they transport us into other people’s worlds but, in doing that, they change the way our brains work and potentially change our brain chemistry — and that’s what it means to be a social creature.
