Check this out guys: MEMORANDUM TO: University community CC: Professor LR van Staden Administrator FROM: Prof K Mfenyana Interim Vice-Chancellor & Principal DATE: 25 March 2014 SUBJECT:FINAL APPEAL TO NMD STUDENTS TO RETURN TO CLASSES The University community was informed of the disruption of the operations and business of the institution at its Nelson Mandela Drive site since 12 March 2014. This disruption resulted from the NMD Campus SRC’s ‘termination of the academic enterprise.’ Management wishes to inform and assure all staff and students that it has done all in its power to assist with the registration of all financial needy students. Our memo of 14 March 2014 on final arrangements for conclusion of registration had also outlined our last attempts, together with the ISRC, to address all outstanding challenges relating to the registration of financial needy students. We sincerely regret that, in spite of all these initiatives which have worked well in accommodating a number of students in other campuses, the NMD Campus SRC has continued with its agenda of destabilization and disruption of academic enterprise. NMD site has already lost two weeks of invaluable learning and teaching time. In the light of all this Management has been left with no other option but to consider the closing of the NMD site. We are therefore making the last and final appeal to all NMD students to immediately return back to classes. Failure to heed this appeal and return to classes will unfortunately force us to indefinitely close this site.
