Checking in with Lauren Fagone and her Freed pointe shoes! Snow Pas rehearsals continue, and today, we have a cameo appearance from Laurens Snow King, Phillip Skaggs! Lauren herself also introduces us to her special relationship with her Freeds. Ive worn Freed pointe shoes since I was 15 years old. The summer I attended School of American Ballet, I vividly remember being fit in my Freeds at the New York store. I think my first maker was M and Ive probably had 10 different makers in my career so far. I have such a love/fear relationship with my shoes, mostly because just when I grow accustomed to the intricacies of my maker, he/she seems to disappear, and I am forced to start the rigorous search for a new maker! I love knowing that a craftsman builds my shoes to my custom specifications, and that these satin beauties are completely and utterly mine. Theres a glamour in that notion that I find incredibly alluring! Every time I open the Freed bag and see my name hand-written on the bottom of the shoes I smile. (to be continued!)
