Chelsea Pines guests have long admired our Blackglama gallery on - TopicsExpress

Chelsea Pines guests have long admired our Blackglama gallery on our second floor, but few of our iconic posters have gained as many comments as the one featuring Lauren Bacall, who died today at age 89. Bacall, the former Betty Perske born in New Yrk City, was a survivor, after being the co-star, wife and widow of Humphrey Bogart, who went on to have a spectacular career of her own, both in film and in brilliant form on Broadway in APPLAUSE, the musical version of ALL ABOUT EVE. She worked into her late 80s, winning Tonys, Oscars, Golden Globes, Kennedy Center honors, and writing two best-selling memoirs. She was a true original, never to be forgotten. RIP, Betty, you will always be remembered at Chelsea Pines Inn. Watch her on the 1970 Tony Awards as she dazzles in a sequence from APPLAUSE: youtube/watch?v=6n6ui38mmLQ
