Chelsea and Manchester City recorded impressive wins on Wednesday night to move further clear at the top of the Premier League.Tottenhams 24-year run without a win at Stamford Bridge goes on after they went down 3-0, while City succeeded where Chelsea failed at the weekend as they came from behind to beat Sunderland 4-1 on Wearside. A late Alexis Sanchez goal gave Arsenal the points at home to Southampton, and Hull ended a four-match losing run with a 1-1 draw at Everton, but it was a night when the top two gave every impression the title race will be a straight fight between them.Chelsea took 19 minutes to work out a lively Spurs side, but Eden Hazard and Didier Drogba then scored within the space of four minutes, and Loic Remys second-half goal emphasised their squad depth in the absence of banned top scorer Diego Costa.City remain six points behind, and the champions coped with absences of their own at Sunderland - Vincent Kompany and David Silva were among those missing - and the blow of conceding to Connor Wickham early on.It took Sergio Aguero barely 90 seconds to answer that goal,and the City striker finished the scoring 19 minutes from time after Stevan Jovetic and Pablo Zabaleta had given the visitors breathing space. No such luxury for Arsenal supporters at the Emirates, where it took until the last minute for Sanchez to find a way past inspired Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster. A string of saves looked like denying Arsenal a third straight win for just the second time this season, but with all three substitutes used and Toby Alderweireld off injured Saints 10 men could not hold out. They remain third, now three points ahead of Arsene Wengers sixth-placed side.
