Chelsea are eyeing a shock move for Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso and could seal a deal in the region of £7m for the Spaniard. Getting that amount of money for a player of his calibre is definitely a bargain considering Alonso’s experience and consistent performances over the last seven-eight years for both club and country. It is understood, as per media reports in Spain, that Alonso wants to work with Jose Mourinho again as he shared a strong relationship when the two worked together at Real Madrid. Chelsea need a quality midfielder in the summer and the 31-year-old Spanish star could easily fit into the side. He has the required wealth of experience of playing in the Premier League while he has few good years still left in him to deliver. Moreover, Real Madrid might cash in on the player, who has just one year remaining on his contract and Alonso is not keen to extend it at the Bernabeu. The question is – would Chelsea go for him in the summer? Most importantly, would Alonso want to join Chelsea, given his strong love and loyalty for Liverpool?
