Chelsea net first summer signing. Chelsea fans are looking up with interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern after it has been claimed by the Daily Mail that Jose Mourinho has finally landed his first summer signing. After what seems like the longest saga since Cesc Fabregas left Arsenal, Chelsea have finally netted Andre Schurrle on an £18 million pound deal with the Bayer Leverkusen man set to sign a long- term contract. The 22-year-old has already had a taste of playing under Mourinho after the manager took charge of him during the Michael Ballack testimonial game just last week. Interestingly, Kevin de Bruyne was not included as part of the deal. The Chelsea man was originally thought to be making up part of the deal, yet after he refused and claimed he only wanted to join Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea were left with little choice but to come to an alternative arrangement which they now seem to have done. Chelsea claimed in an official press release that: "Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement for the transfer of Andre Schurrle, subject to the completion of legal documentation and related matters, including personal terms and passing a medical."
