Chelsea to get Spanish deal done and dusted, as five-year contract on the table Chelsea are about to offer Juan Mata a five-year-contract which will end all speculation on his future. Fans favourite Mata has been targeted by Barcelona this transfer window, while the 25-year-old was also last week linked with a move to Manchester United in part-exchange for Wayne Rooney. However, Chelsea were quick to dismiss the rumour – something the club do not usually make a point of doing – and are now set to confirm Mata’s status in west London by tying him down to a long-term contract. The Spanish international joined Chelsea from Valencia two years ago on a five-year deal and has won the club’s Player of the Year award in both of his seasons with the Blues, cementing his place as one of the best midfielder in the Premier League. And he is now set to sign a deal keeping him at the club until 2018, with his weekly wage increasing from £70,000 to £100,000. (The Metro) Fans will be very happy to see the man get a new contract as he is vital to the clubs success in the near future (mail) (b)
