Chennai earlier known as Madras is my hometown and like for all it - TopicsExpress

Chennai earlier known as Madras is my hometown and like for all it is always a excitement to visit their home town, the city is a mix of the wealthiest, the middle class and the ordinary common man, but I take pride in one thing and it is without prejudice to other states and cities and to those which are the hometowns of my friends I state this , and that is Chennai has deeply imbibed cultural values and never changes easily in its lifestyle but I am seeing a radical change in this too over the last two years, Chennai is rated as the most erudite city in India. But it remains conservative on many aspects even now and unlike other metropolis, the infusion of western culture and practices has been only of late and it has been indeed rather rapid, by far a very peace loving city and tranquil, free from communal violences or organized Mafias. Chennai is rather a city of joy as well as woes, its curse is only the ever short supply of water and power, it has the best educational institutions , the beaches, the heritage buildings, the museum, libraries and many a more, the first batch of ICS officers were from Chennai, and Chennai prides itself on having the most erudite parliamentary constituency in India which is South Madras. The most prestigious one is of course New Delhi. Life in this city is rather simple and they say it has the best public transport infrastructure in India, it has the Public Bus, the Autos, the Shared Taxis, the Electric Trains, the above surface trains and the Metro is to be launched full fledgedly this year. The residents are rather friendly and one could always get around easily even without knowing Tamil as virtually everyone speaks a bit of English enough for him to understand what you say and comprehend what he has replied back. I have travelled extensively all over but the aroma of Chennai lingers always in my mind, and the moment I touch down on this city, my adrenalin surges, and on a lighter vein it is a delight to see the sight of silk sarees ( not the woman who is wearing it as I may run into trouble if I mention it ) and the aroma of jasmine flowers, the taste of local dishes ( not confined only to Idly, Sambar and Vada ), taste a lot better not solely because they are just intrinsically tasty but it is served from the most fragile and soft fingers. ( Understand what I say, I could be humorous too for a change ). That would make what you eat a heady cocktail. I Just landed this afternoon here and would be here until the morning of the 30th. Each city in India has its own pride and I am sure my friends on FB would feel proud about their home towns too which would be equally charismatic and filled with glory That is the bondage one has to his home town , Just a brief post from my home and I think this is the first one which I have made apart from my usual topics of interest........................... Have great day ahead ............
