Cheri SIcard here, sharing part of an email I received tonight from inmate Craig Cesal, also serving Life Without Possibility of Parole for a first time, nonviolent marijuana offense: I did research today in a comparison between marijuana offenses, and other crimes. If I had gone into a bank, shot the teller, and stole up to $10,000, my offense level under the sentencing guidelines would be level 31, for a sentence between 108 and 120 months. My marijuana offense resulted in an offense level of 44, for a life sentence. Hmmmmmm.
