Cheryl another suggestion what you are talking about is a theology called Replacement Theology, might find answers by researching. I am searching all my documents, books, etc. Replacement theology comes out of the protestant theologies (and I dont at this moment remember which and I cant figure out if that is where your are coming from or not) and simply says that when Christ was given over for trial and convicted and it alludes to scriptures that say it was the Jews, who killed they broke the covenant G_d had made with Abraham that the Jewish people would always be His, G_ds chosen people and the land would always be theirs and as they had broke the covenant the promise now passed to the church. Some might say you have opened a can of worms. It is the evangelical church and I THINK this would also include evangelical Catholics and perhaps the Baptist denominations who hold that the covenant was not broken as covenants with G_d cannot be broken (I am belng challenged here) but it is the reason I moved from the Protestant Church to the Catholic faith for I found them holding to more of the truths, I held , more frequently cited with the belief of the early church believers. I know that sounds strange but there are as many different beliefs within the Catholic faith as there among all the Protestant doctrines. But before converting I attended many different schools, read many different books by many different teachers, preachers. Only last night I bought five new books, 2 Southern Baptist, 2 Catholics and 1 by a who knows what which I bought in error. Let me know if I can help any more or perhaps I can learn more from you. But I do not ascribe to Replacement Theology. I dont know whether you got my note on researching. writing, calling Perry Stone. He is one I closely follow at this moment in time and as of yet I have no reason to not trust meaning I listen and verify as often as possible. He appears to be so very honest and is slow to condemn but is quick to point out what he believes are inaccuracies in doctrines. If I am not wrong he is Pentecostal as with all of us in the south a sprinkling of Baptist, all Baptist, here and there.
