Chesterfield County is holding a Convention to nominate our next Sheriff January 15, 2014 at 6:05pm Please my friends in Chesterfield Co, VA, take the time to read this and be a participant. You do make a difference, but only if you vote. Chesterfield County is holding a Convention to nominate our next Sheriff DATE: Monday January 20th, 2014 at 6PM LOCATION: DoubleTree Hotel 1021 Koger Center Boulevard Richmond, VA 23235 Contact me for your Required Delegate Form - Fill Out and Bring with you the payment is OPTIONAL. FYI: The Republican Committee selected to use a convention because of a time constraint. By court order, the committee must select a candidate by Tues January 21st, 2014 @ 5PM. This is your notice to inform yourself about the two Sheriff candidates and attend next Monday evening at the DoubleTree Hotel. Remember we get the government we deserve, or lack of depending upon your participation. As you may have heard Sheriff Dennis Proffitt is retiring. There will be a special election held to fill the position of Sheriff on March 18th; however, we know that the candidate selected by the Republican Party via convention this Monday evening at the Koger Doubletree Hotel will determine our next Sheriff from one of two candidates running for their nomination for that office. The candidates: Karl Leonard, who has worked closely with Sheriff Dennis Proffitt over the years, has his endorsement. Karl Leonard was appointed by Sheriff Proffitt as interim Sheriff from Feb. 1 till the special election is held in March. He has 30+ years with the Chesterfield Police Department, Richmond Sheriffs Office and the Chesterfield Sheriffs office. He has also served with the U.S. Coast Guard. He has served Chesterfield County citizens well for almost 4 decades. Karls experience far outweighs any challenger running for Sheriff. Jerry Baldwin, who has the endorsement of State Senator Steve Martin, Delegates Roxann Robinson and Rob Bell, among others in the Republican Party. They are supporting him because they believe he has the experience needed for the job and his record of working to elect Republicans to public office. I know and like Jerry and think it’s good that he feels he is capable of being Sheriff, but helping get Republicans elected is not experience that qualifies you to hold an elected office. His only 8 years’ experience in the Richmond Sheriff’s office is just not of the caliber of his opponent. Jerry has no experience in Chesterfield Co law enforcement. I really am disappointed in the Senator and Delegates who think his experience and work in the Republican Party supporting candidates trumps a man whose lifetime has been in law enforcement. This is not the time for political favors; it’s the time for experience. Common sense seems to becoming a far distant term the more time goes by. Remember we get the government we deserve, or lack of depending upon your participation. You know the Office of Sheriff is the most powerful elected position at the local level. Leadership from the Sheriffs Office is vital to law enforcement being successful in Chesterfield County and experience increases the chances of this success tremendously. So I would urge everyone and all of your like-minded family members and friends to please make the effort and attend this county convention on Monday, January 20th to make your voice heard and your vote count. This couple of hours you invest in this convention will pay dividends that you may never realize because of the experience difference in these two candidates and the safety of your normal everyday life. This convention by your vote determines the best experienced candidate for the Office of Sheriff in Chesterfield Co, VA. In March a Special Election will be held county wide. Please come out and support Karl Leonard at this convention and make sure Chesterfield Co continues to have the top notch, most experienced candidate for the Office of Sheriff. SUPPORT KARL LEONARD. Thank you, Daren Gardner
