Chew on This… (Letter F) Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 Have you ever been so sure about something that nothing could persuade you to change your mind? That is what our verse is about today. Hebrews 11 is full of examples of great men of faith from the Old Testament. The chapter begins with a definition of faith: being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Of course, we need to be unwavering concerning our belief in God, Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. But there are some other areas we need to hold firm and not let our confidence be shaken. We need to take hold of who we are in Christ, and not let go. Here is a short confession based on scripture you can be sure and confident in because God’s Word does not return void: I am God’s workmanship, loved by Him and worthy because of Jesus’ blood. I am a new creation, the old is gone and the new has come. God is the same yesterday, today and forever! His Word is true. I know the truth and the truth has set me free. If Christ has made me free, then I am free indeed. I have been created in His image and I am valuable! I am more than a conqueror, loved, forgiven and secure. In Christ I am adopted, redeemed, justified, reconciled and chosen. I am victorious, filled with joy and peace and more than a conqueror. Jesus is my Savior and nothing can take that away! Do not let anyone, anything, any circumstance or situation shake what you know to be true in God’s Word, because He who has begun a good work in you will see it through to the end! Do not base truth on feelings, but be like a tree planted by the water and refuse to be moved! Hallelujah and amen!
