Position Title: Director of Finance Application deadline: 12/31/2013 Position Description: The Director of Finance (“the Director”) serves as CPLF’s key staff on planning, organizing and controlling CPLF’s financial and administrative resources. The Director provides technical expertise to design, implement and maintain sound fiscal and administrative management in areas of financial recording/reporting,audit coordination, budget preparation/analyses, investment accounting and employee benefits’ administration. Major Responsibilities (in priority ranking): 1. Lead audit/tax return responsibility, including preparation of audit/tax work papers, financial statements and schedules for electronic submission to CPLF’s external audit and tax teams. 2. Monitors, maintains and analyzes financial activity in over 200 cost centers and designs and generates reports on investments, revenues/accounts receivable, expenses/accounts payable (including 1099s), restricted funds, endowments, and the like. 3. Prepares and monitors employee payroll/leave records, including federal and state withholding deposits and quarterly and yearly reporting. 4. Serves as plan administrator for employee benefit plans, including pension, medical, dental, life, disability and flex. Prepares the federal 5500 report annually. 5. Prepares CPLF’s annual budget in coordination with the President/CEO. 6. Staff liaison to Board Committees on Investments and Finance & Audit. Key Competencies (in priority ranking): 1. Comprehensive knowledge and extensive experience in accounting and financial management principles and practices including; generally accepted accounting principles, budgeting, financial analysis, cash management, payroll taxes, benefit plans administration, investments and not-for-profit auditing standards. 2. Ability to (a) research, analyze and interpret complex technical information; (b) prepare and interpret financial reports and statements; (c) develop and implement operational policies/procedures; (d) conceptualize and think creatively; (e) establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external constituencies, including CPLF and CPL staff, Board of Directors, vendors and donors. 3. Communication (oral and written), customer service and human relations skills. 4. Working knowledge of information systems, including accounting software applications. Financial Edge Experience a “plus”. 5. Personal qualities of integrity, ethical conduct and commitment to CPLF’s mission. Required Education & Experience: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration or directly-related field. A minimum of ten years of progressively-responsible senior-level non-profit financial management experience. Advanced degree and CPA preferred. Compensation: Salary range low to mid eighties.
