[Chicago Seed Revisited National Desk]....in national news, our roving reporter (me) headquartered in the very far western suburb of santa cruz, ca has observed an uptick of chaos in the local city council. at the last council meeting, there was an item low keyed into the agenda re: dept. of homeland security and surplus military vehicles...homeland security has offered a $250,000 grant to the santa cruz police dept for the purchase of a surplus armored vehicle designed to protect troops in battlefield situations.. this activity is now commonly referred to as part of possible domestic militarization of law enforcement agencies across the USA...fortunately, after the shock wore off, unruly progressive citizens attending disrupted the proceedings....and successfully managed to get any further action about the vehicle delayed until the next meeting in mid January....as all public meetings of the council are taped for the local community cable channel the righteous ruckus was recorded fyi [this post is open for correction if necessary}: youtu.be/PIp-1FuG7oA
