Chicago friends, on Sunday, November 10th at 5pm I will be doing a show with world-renowned improvisor Jimmy Carrane (author of the book Improvising Better, original member of The Armando Diaz Experience and The Annoyance Theatre, and host/creator of the Chicago Public Radio show Studio 312) and Brett Lyons, an outstanding improvisor Ive had the pleasure of watching improvise literally hundreds of times. And, this will be one of my last stand-up performances for the next three months -- because I am going to spend those three months working hard on storytelling, which is an area of relative weakness for me. (In general, the way I work on skills now is by focusing nearly all of my artistic energy on a given skill for several months to get much better at that skill. Thats how I got a lot better at stand-up over the past few months. FYI, I will still be practicing my stand-up at home to keep it fresh and ready just in case. But I wont let anybody come and see me do that!) Belmont in Chicago The show Improv Nerd with Jimmy Carrane is a real staple of the Chicago improv scene, plus has been performed on stages throughout the USA. In the show, Jimmy interviews his guest improvisor, then the two of them do some improv, and then the floor is opened up to the audience for questions.
