Chicago-land Independent Filmmakers: Please take a few moments to read this entire post. Some important news comes after the initial information is supplied. Reactor 88 Studios has worked closely with Muvico Theaters over the past few months to have their feature length film “Inspectres” screened as a short run for a week. Muvico has been very receptive and supportive of Reactor 88 Studios work and look forward to working with more of the independent film community. How does this affect you as a filmmaker? Muvico Theaters has made it easily accessible for Independent Filmmakers to screen their films. In addition, if a movie proves to do well on a local level, possibilities for showing Independent films in other major cities where Muvico Theaters are located are opened up. Having the option to screen films in major cities in well established theaters in this way opens up doors that we as filmmakers have been trying to access for as long as we’ve been making films. How can you make this a reality? On Sept 5th at 8:00 “Inspectres” will be having its premiere screening. It shall also be running for the next week. The two ways that you can help are 1) pre-ordering tickets for the premiere. Advanced sales look good on the books. Seeing the movie at a subsequent screening will help as well, but making a big splash on the first night would help immeasurably. 2) Attend on Monday Sept. 9th. This is the date I have suggested to Reactor 88 Studios as an Independent Filmmaker night. As Mondays are usually dark days for Film and Theatre, this sounded like the best day to hold such a dedicated evening to answer questions. More details of what to expect on the 9th should be supplied in the near future. If you’re on my friends list, expect an invite very shortly.
