Chicken and dumplings with a generous portion of buttermilk cornbread. It just hits the spot on this chilly night. I stewed a fat hen and made a nice rich broth. I like to say fat hen. The dumplings were fluffy and light and the chicken really tender. I come from a long line of dumpling makers and Im sure happy about it. Not health food, not cooking light, not whole grain, just stick to your ribs good. I feel like I should have cut firewood before I ate them. Oh, well, too late now. Besides, I have a gas fireplace.
