Chicopee Celebrates National Night Out CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB) — Last week, Springfield and several area communities held their National Night Out, where the community and local law enforcement gathered together to take a stand against crime. Tonight, Chicopee is taking part in the national movement. This is the 20th year that Chicopee has taken part in this National Night Out to stand up against crime. Festivities got underway at Sarah Jane Sherman Part on Chicopee Street in the city’s Willimansett neighborhood. This year’s event includes food, games, music, bounce houses, and demonstrations from the Chicopee Police and Fire Departments. The event is free and open to the public. At dusk, the annual Desiree Lafond Memorial Flashlight Parade with Chicopee Police will take place. Over 37.8 million people in 16.124 communities take part in National Night Events across the country, as well as U.S. territories, military bases, and Canadian cities.
