Chief Femi Fani-Kayode was first arraigned in December 2008 under Justice Ramat Muhammed. He pled not guilty and the judge granted him bail for the sum of two hundred million and two sureties. He was re-arraigned under Justice Nyako after Justice Muhammed, the first judge was transferred . On the 11th of February the EFCC arraigned him again under Justice Ajumogobia. On the 6th of March the prosecution opened its case after amending the 47 count charge against him. Yesterday the 10th of July, the prosecution announced that it has closed its case . The judge now adjourned the case to the 28th of October for adoption of final written addresses. But ignorant people are prancing up and down posting that EFFC had dropped charges against Fani Kayode. When a prosecution closes its case, does it mean charges have been dropped ? It simply means they have finished tendering all the evidence on the 47 charges against the suspect . But sentiments will always clog the reasoning of negative people especially when their minds are made up to denigrate any government institution just because Jonathan is president . Today, these same people daily mock the Nigerian Armed forces , the Police, SSS, judiciary etc. I wonder if they realize they are equally mocking themselves because Jonathan doesnt occupy all these positions. Even if partisan sentiments blinds you from seeing anything positive about this administration , but at least respect the efforts of our fellow citizens like me and you who occupy positions in our national institutions. Most especially , respect and encourage our men and women who are at the fronts battling insurgents and enemies of this great nation . Two years ago I wrote about an experience I had on board a flight from Charlotte to Atlanta. The memory of how American passengers showed maximum respect to a group of US soldiers traveling with us changed my perspective about our national institutions. If you feel our national institutions arent doing enough, then get conscripted and be the change . If you feel our political class is polluted, then join a party and bring in a breath of fresh air. Nations are built when all hands are on deck and individual responsibility is paramount. Lets begin the change with the man in the mirror .
