Children who run away from their homes, or who are forced to leave homes where violence, abuse, and neglect have become part of their daily lives, feel unloved, unwanted and are oftentimes abused on the streets. Little do they know that the dangers on the streets are worse than what they endured at home. Research shows it can happen to anyone, with as many children running away from affluent homes as low-income households. 70% of these children are never even reported missing by those supposedly responsible for their welfare and safety. These children are easy preys to human traffickers.
