Children’s Ask the Doctor Call Save the Date: March 21st, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time Topic: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and adolescents with Pat Harvey and Britt Rathbone Pat and Britt will be discussing DBT as it relates to adolescents and their parents. They will present a very brief overview of the modes of DBT and the DBT dialectic of Acceptance and Change. They will then discuss the philosophy behind the acceptance of problematic behaviors as a way to respond to pain as a way for parents to understand problematic behaviors in a non-judgmental, non-blaming way. They will finish up with a discussion of how parents can utilize the dialectic of acceptance and change in their interactions with teens through validation and observing limits.
