Chile just got hit with another 8.0 yesterday. The egg doesnt usually crack on only one side. One crack makes an offset for another area on the same plate to also shift. When the earthquake hit Haiti in 2010, Jamaica was struck along with Venezuela and Argentina and then Peru. This was almost a perfect path of the tectonic plates cracking down the lines. Then of course months later the shifts were balanced back with major situations occurring in the East like Japan.
