China, ME. Fresh from the field. Major energy retrofit and exterior renovation of this antique colonial. When insulating the exterior walls (drill-and-fill densepack cellulose), the crew discovered that at both chimney locations, there was no lathe/plaster to the inside surface of the walls, AND veritable rooms in which the chimneys are chased. So, Ross here, removed the exterior sheathing, got inside the spaces, installed netting to the back sides of the cavities, replaced the sheathing and installed his densepack to insulate and air-seal. Major holes in the house successfully improved! Bring on the siding!
