China Mobile begins to offer 4G handsets The China Daily reported on Saturday that China Mobile has begun selling 4G smartphones in three cities in Zhejiang Province. Four models, made by Samsung, Sony, ZTE and Coolpad were made available in Hangzhou, Ningbo and Wenzhou. China Mobile has already begun putting a TD-LTE network in place, building 22,000 sites in 15 cities by mid July. The operator has previously stated its ambition to reach 200,000 base stations in 100 cities by the end of 2013, by which time it aims to have reached 1 million TD-LTE connections. Meanwhile, Alcatel-Lucent announced China Mobile will use a TD-LTE variant of its lightRadio small cell for its nationwide deployment.
