#Chiwest News Update: A former deputy governor of Anambra State, Dr. Okey Udeh, has declared his interest to context the Anambra South Senatorial seat in the 2015 general elections. Udeh made the declaration during the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) stakeholders meeting tagged, “Unity Meeting” at his Ndiowu country-home in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state. The former deputy governor said he was particularly delighted that the crises in APGA in Orumba North/South federal constituency had been resolved by the National Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh. He said: “You can see all the stakeholders from Orumba North and South are here, demonstrating their willingness in moving the party forward. “I seek your support today for the senatorial seat; you will not be disappointed if you give me your collective mandate to serve. Those who were or still in the senate had performed, but more benefits are still being lacked by our people.” Udeh, a two-time member of the House of Representativesand sponsor of the Nigeria Maritime Cabotage Law in 2003, said he would improve on the provision of dividends of democracy. According to him, the Orumba North/South federal constituency had not produced a Senator and therefore, deserved to be given an opportunity to do so in the 2015 general elections. Highlight of the occasion was his endorsement by the councillors of Orumba North/South through a motion moved by their Chairman, Mr. Tochukwu Mgbahuluba, and seconded by Mr. Phinda Nwankwo from Omorgho ward. He thanked Governor Willie Obiano for assuring equal chances for all aspirants of the party as well as free and fair primaries in the state. Udeh, who was endorsed by the councilors of the He commended Obiano and Umeh for their exhibition of Igbo spirit in governance and leadership, while calling for the people’s supports to enable them excels in their various mandates. He commended members of State House of Assembly for passing a vote of confidence on the Governor, thereby giving credence to the slogan that “Willie is Working’’ . Speaking at the occasion, the Leader of the party in the Old Aguata Union (OAU) Chief Okey Ezibe which included Orumba North/South confirmed that the past problems in the party in the zone had been resolved, and appealed for the support of all to make Udeh’s ambition become a reality. He said `We will go to work, comport ourselves in the most civilised manner to be able to lobby our brothers and sisters in the Anambra South Senatorial District to ensure Udeh’s victory at the poll. “The south senatorial district is the melting pot of the state. This is where you have the money bags. We will constitute a think-tank to actualise the job,’’. Also speaking, Director General of Join Jonathan Journey (JJJ) support group for President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Ben Oranusi assured Mr. Umeh that the electorate in the two Local Governments would massively vote for him.
