Chloe Update: Chloe has been doing well over the weekend. She had an infection that they have been treating with antibiotics, and cultures are starting to come back negative, so they are doing their job. Our goal this week has been to slowly work her up to full feeds. If you remember, before heart surgery, Chloe had several bloody stools. At that point, she was up to 13 ml/hr, so they stopped feeds and bumped up the heart surgery. After surgery, they worked her back up to 13 ml/hr and held for a couple of days to make sure that she was tolerating that well, and now we have been moving up by a couple of ml/hr each day. Were up to 20 ml/hr now and on our way to the full feeds of 27 ml/hr. Tomorrow, she has a bronchogram (sp?) to help determine what vent settings are best for her airway. Were hoping that some of the desat issues she had last week were due to the infection and that well be able to wean some more on the vent settings. She needs to be on really low settings for her next heart surgery, so pray this test goes well. Otherwise, it was a quiet weekend. They have moved us over to a quiet corner of the PICU and we still are waiting on a bed to open up in the NICU so we can head back upstairs, but they are pretty swamped right now. -- Alan
