Chloe won the 6th Grade Essay Contest. Youre excused if you think - TopicsExpress

Chloe won the 6th Grade Essay Contest. Youre excused if you think I might have been her ghostwriter, but the essay is written at school and under a two hour deadline. She brought home a lovely certificate of achievement and a voucher for a free bicycle of her choice from Alexandrias fanciest bike shop (the kind of place thats intimidating to those of us who arent gunning for a spot in the Tour de France). Im overwhelmingly proud, of course, but her win raises some issues. First, she has no idea how to ride a bike and, while I can teach her many things, my own bike riding skills are questionable. I can ride one, but its not pretty. Second, is she potentially a better writer than I am? I never won a bike for my prose. I dont recall ever winning anything for my scribblings except a place in the Ten To One lineup. Iain Grant, please reassure me that the Ten To One writers are some of the most brilliant, creative, and frighteningly talented writers from around the globe and that my inclusion wasnt simply an administrative mistake. I wont be eclipsed by my twelve year old daughter. Pigeon Park Press established my bona fides almost two years ago. I think Ill be finishing up my novella this week.
