Graduates leave equipped with the tools to navigate all four corners of the New York City property globe. More than just ticking the boxes to get you licensed, New York Real Estate Institute boasts an extensive roster of reputable and very successful brokers who are passionate about sharing their skills and insights. Its fast-paced, it can be serious - but its also real estate in New York City! Bar the odd run-in with allegedly rude administrators, graduates sing the praises of their instructors on Yelp who have offered private tutoring sessions in the lead up to exams and are more than happy to share the study guides even they refer to when working in the field. Real Estate Express If youre more of an online operator, this could be the option that gets you licenced seamlessly. Real Estate Express is flexible, friendly and fit for today’s online-orientated world. While the anonymous online jury of complaints on sites such as RippOffReport and ComplainsBoard debate whether their course materials are clear enough, its good to remember that the negative Nellys usually scream louder than the agents who have passed their state test and are already converting sales leads! Other reviews weve come across on BiggerPockets have commended Real Estate Express for allowing students to prolong their course to spend more time on materials and with their instructors before taking their internal test and the state test. Also, read the not-so-fine print! Theyre very clear about their internal final exam being an in-person proctored test you have to set up yourself! Hot tip: these guys often have specials on sites such as Groupon so while the price tag of $300 or less is already reasonable, keep your eyes out for limited time bargains. Ivy Real Estate Education and Real Estate Education Center REEDC New York These two schools get honourable mentions as Ivy Real Estate puts that art in being smart because students rave about their user-friendly course materials including fun acronyms and techniques to memorize rules and regulations for exams. The team at REEDC is people-orientated and instructors have been praised for having personalities and enthusiasm that could sell tickets to watching paint dry. That’s what you want in sales role, right? Take time to read reviews on Yelp and Glassdoor because some extreme reviews may sway you either way in terms of physical state of the schools, class sizes and opinions of ex-staff. Hot tip: graduates have had success in arranging consultation meetings with their instructors before signing up. One final word of advice – never feel pressured to sign on to whatever real estate firm they school is spruiking at the end of the course. You’re your own free agent – research your options!
