(Part 1) “So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.” He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.”Jh.21:15-17. Points of Emphasis: Love unconfirmed is love of no test. Love without a test is love of uncertainty. One day, a chorister who underwent thorough counseling decided to call off her marriage. The Pastor and the parents were furious about her decision because her marriage delayed. She explained. She said, “Pastor, since we scheduled our date for marriage, my fiancé had changed. He has never considered my choir meetings and church service as important. He met me when I was active in those things but not now. He is always furious and wanted me to be with him at the time of choir meeting or church service.” The Pastor said, “If it is about salvation, I fully support you.” Another lady, from the same church also had similar problem but she backslide and followed the wish of her fiancé. They got painfully divorced after only three weeks of marriage. Beloved, any love or lover that is threat to your salvation is fake. How can a person claim to love you but will deny the most important person, Jesus, as foundation of the marriage? Man’s love does not control marriage but Christ’s love. Man’s love is emotional. If your would-be cannot change now, he/she will not change after you are married. No Jesus! No better marriage! Divorce is quick and painful if Jesus is not allowed in the marriage. Every marriage should go through thorough counseling in the church. When you rush in, you will rush out. In the above scriptures, Jesus tested Peter to confirm his love for Him and for the work he entrusted into his hands. Jesus made us understood that love goes beyond mere mouth confession, “I love you.” Love must speak from the heart. Peter claimed to love Jesus but denied the most important thing. Real love feeds! It tends! Meditation: Jesus was talking about Agape love—love by sacrifice but Peter was responding Philo—love by emotion. 1Corin. 13:1- Declaration: Dear LORD, I (full name), I thank You for renewing your love for me. Please help me to love and be loved in Jesus Christ name. Amen! Prayer: Dear LORD, may every fake love be cancelled in the life, marriage and every endeavour of the above declarer in Jesus Christ name. Amen! Beloved, keep calm, you are in love to love and be loved.
