Christ in Our Lives for Wednesday, December 4th, 2013 Please read Isaiah 2:1-5 Isaiah wants us to envision another time and place. We see a place where God’s kingdom reigns fully, a place where violence, unfaithfulness and disregarding the poor has vanished, a place where justice and fairness is established, a place where there is no more war. This time and place is where all brokenness is healed. Sounds impossible, doesn’t it? When is this day coming? God’s promise is that this day will surely come, but in the meantime, what do we do? Checking off our Christmas shopping list seems a more attainable task than this coming kingdom. The good news is that God sends the Prince of Peace, Jesus, to die on a mound named Golgotha to forgive and heal our brokenness. This risen Christ sent out the Holy Spirit from Jerusalem to equip and enable us to be agents of this kind of peace. This advent the Child makes us ready to walk in the light of God! “O come, O come, Immanuel/ And bless each place your people dwell./ Melt ev’ry weapon crafted for war/Bring peace upon the earth forevermore./Rejoice, rejoice, take heart and do not fear,/God’s chosen one, Immanuel draws near. Amen. (Barbara Lundbad) Pastor Dennis Bux
