Christchurch Pops Choir seeks new Artistic Director The Christchurch Pops Choir is seeking a new Artistic Director to start in July 2015. This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, musical leader to assume the role at an exciting time in the Choir’s history. Inaugural Artistic Director Luke Di Somma has announced his resignation so he can pursue new opportunities, effective mid 2015. Luke started the choir in June 2011, and the choir’s management team say his leadership and direction has been instrumental in establishing the Pops sound, diverse repertoire and team culture. “While the Christchurch Pops Choir is sad to see Luke leave, we wholeheartedly support him in this decision,” Pops chair Anne-Marie Cotton says. Di Somma says that “forming and leading the Pops Choir has been one of the most rewarding things I have done. While I am enormously sad to leave, the choir is in great voice and heart and is ready for a new Artistic Director to take them forward.” The Christchurch Pops Choir (Principal Sponsor Christchurch Airport) is well established as an important part of Christchurch’s musical entertainment landscape, performing at everything from Coca Cola Christmas in the Park to Champion Canterbury Awards, Sport Canterbury Awards, the arrivals areas at Christchurch Airport, and Christmas carols in rest homes.
